Thank you!
For making RideYellow 2009 a stunning success! With almost 500 riders braving the heat on a sunny Alabama morning, RideYellow this year was our biggest and best yet! Come back soon to see what we've got planned for next year.

-- The RideYellow Team

The RIDEYELLOW Mission:

RIDEYELLOW was created to raise awareness of the prevalence of cancer in our community and to draft grassroots support for our mission of inspiring and empowering people affected by cancer.

UNITY IS STRENGTH
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER
ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING

The Ride:

RIDEYELLOW 2009, is a local road cycling event benefiting the University of South Alabama’s Children’s and Women’s Hospital – the USS HOPE and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. It will be hosted by the City of Bay Minette on June 20, 2009. The ride begins at 7:00am. The first five miles is designated as a “memorial” ride and then the riders choosing a longer route continue on their way! Many of our participants choose to wear a YELLOW jersey – we hope that you will too!

In 2007, our first year, more than 300 riders from 8 states praised RIDE YELLOW 2007 as one of the Gulf Coast’s premier cycling events. RIDEYELLOW 2008 proved to be even bigger and better with more than 500 riders and their families participating!

Our Success :

Since 2004, RIDEYELLOW have has raised more than $100,000.00 from our generous community to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation, as well as several LOCAL charities.

Our Organization:

RIDEYELLOW.ORG is a fundraiser benefiting local cancer charities and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. RIDEYELLOW.ORG officially became a non-profit in September of 2007. In keeping with its purpose and mission, RIDEYELLOW.ORG has chosen to annually rotate financial support to a local charity that provides assistance to those affected by cancer. RIDEYELLOW 2008’s recipient was the Ronald McDonald House of Mobile.

RIDEYELLOW 2009 local recipient will be the
USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital - USS HOPE
Located on the campus of the USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital - USS HOPE, the region’s ONLY pediatric outpatient chemotherapy center, is a cheerful submarine room designed for children undergoing treatment for cancer, sickle cell disease, and other transfusion therapies.

As a member of the Children’s Oncology Group, the world’s largest childhood cancer research organization, USA’s pediatric oncologists have access to the latest and most effective cancer treatment protocols for children.

While the children at the USS HOPE receive the best care possible, the budget does not always allow for the simple things that make the treatments bearable – what we hope to be able to donate through our RIDEYELLOW fundraising efforts are things like video game monitors and updated games, bedside activity/meal tables, and less exciting but very necessary items such as vital sign monitors and syringe pumps.

Thank you for joining us on Saturday, June 20 at 7:00am for RIDEYELLOW.ORG 2009. And please remember, cancer doesn’t take a break and neither can we!
